HTTP Status 500 when accepting an approval workflow step for documents

Description
When a user clicks on the button to accept a workflow step for the approval of documents the browser response with a HTTP status message 500.
Nevertheless, the accepted workflow step is saved.

Fix the error and provide a intermediate branch release-2.4.7 with all changes which are partly made in devel-2.4.8 of the plugin author.
The branch release-2.4.7 can be applied until version 2.4.8 is released which should contain the pull request as described in #461.
